    Prepare Me a Song Winners!

@GM Venus The remaining prizes were supposed to sent out with the February patch, right? I still haven't received the two Christmas giftboxes. Could you please give us a date when those will be sent out? Have you received the Christmas giftboxes?
  2. I see a number of players using foreign language text in game, such as, Russian, Japanese, and Korean. I used to be able to use Korean language text, Hangul, in game, but now, if I change to it on my computer, it comes out as ?????? in game. Because I have lived in Korea for about nine years, I often want to say hi to players I see using Korean language, but despite having adjusted my language options a number of times and experimenting with multiple keyboard settings, I still can't get it to work. Foreign text, both Chinese and Korean work everywhere else on my computer, just not in game. Does anyone have any suggestions how I might solve this problem?

    Prepare Me a Song Winners!

@GM Venus Thank you for the rewards, Venus. Really appreciate it. And I enjoyed the contest a lot. I didn't receive Gift Box x2 or the Howl GM Box. I believe the Talon coins were in the fourth mail. I sent you a message directly a few hours after winners were announced thanking you and requesting the GM box. But I got mail today that said I should you tell you again. So I am posting it here.

    TalonRO curve - advice needed

Haha. I understand, man. Well, that wasn't even the point I was trying to discuss at all. Valheru said he didn't mind basic buffing, but didn't like taking on the role of full support, so I was just trying to expound on the joys of soloing as an ME priest and later as a HP. But I found myself in a discussion I didn't intend to be in. Anyway, I'm out, have fun guys!!

    TalonRO curve - advice needed

Sure, a single necromancer is more xp than a single Anubis. But in Abbey 3, there are an abundance of necromancers, so you don't have to go looking for them, they quite easily find you. When leeching my 79+ characters to 99, trans and non trans, with 99 ME HP, I can lay out a line of ME and kill as many as six necromancers at a time, but more often, it's two or three. While I was leveling to 99 with as a HP, I tried to keep it to three at time or less. And there are other monsters that get killed by ME like banshees and flaming skulls. Necros don't die instantly like Anubis with TU, but they are constantly coming in hordes and dying fairly quickly, so it's about quantity and consistency that make Abbey 3 faster than Sphinx. I'm not speaking about all cases of mobbing vs other ways of leveling, I am very specifically addressing a player's comment that I should try TU over ME. I have, and personally, I like ME. It's fast and it works. I am in agreement with Khrei, play how you like and enjoy it!

True, it's not a bad way to go. TU is actually pretty fun. I played around with it on my ME HP, though the success rate is lower than with the proper build. At the time, I only had a 95 Blacksmith and no other characters, and like I put in my original post, I wanted to make a priest for support, but I ended up deciding to go with an ME build. I didn't have all the gear either. You at least need your Kaho and the rosary set + spiritual ring set to do abbey. I did Abbey 2 and 3 in the 90s on priest (not yet trans) and again on HP. It can be done. It just takes a timing, a lot of running, and practice. Later, when I saved up money, I got Eddga card for Endure, which made it a whole lot easier, and Deviling as well. And, of course, being trans and having Assumptio was much better than when I did it on priest. Before, then I worked my way through Glast Heim, when ME still took me like fifteen seconds to cast. So, it wasn't like I was rich and just bought OP gear. But Howrah made the argument that TU is simply the fastest, and I disagree.

Right, that's exactly my point. Right, exactly my point. So a TU build with pantie isn't going to get you the fastest xp as he said above. But I agreed it was the cheapest. My original post was that I did my leveling as an ME priest.

    TalonRO curve - advice needed

Cheapest, yes. Fastest? How are you going to mob with TU? When I was killing mobs in Abbey 3, I never felt like... "man, this is going too slow." And you spend all that time looking for your next Anubis and competing with other players on the same map.

lol That's hardcore. I imagine that took you quite awhile. It's nice to see people doing things on their own.

Totally agree. I originally started out on smith since that was what I played on the original server back in 2003. But once I learned about the joys of multi-clienting, I made a priest, initially for support, but ended up focusing on ME skill. I tanked her with my smith at leaf cats until she was strong enough to ME at Glast Heim. And, then, I slowly worked my way up through Abbey and Odin 2 to 99 HP without ever joining a party. Then, I supported my smith up to 90+ trans. I found that I really loved playing ME high priest even more than smith. I can also leech new jobs I want to try to max level at Abbey 3, getting more xp than if I was in a party. I even go to dimensional gorge from time to time for fun and have no problem if I can find a corner to pull small groups of mobs (under 5) while avoiding Valkyrie, though it takes a little practice. =) And, these days, I dual with HP and my LK in Geffenia, which seems to work out as well. So ME HP is the way to go.

    Lord Knight at a lost

I found that partying my LK with my ME HP works well in Geffenia, even though all my Kaho, Deviling, Eddga, and Bathory are on my HP. The only good gear I have managed to save up for so far for my LK is a single Celebration Ring and VF (without the cards). But HP takes care of all the Succubi/Inccubi and LK BB all of the Violies, Fallen Angels, and Bloody Knight. LK also picks up the all the loot, so there are very few trips back to town. I imagine that with a properly geared LK farming rate would be better. So I second this option.

    Prepare Me a Song

IGN: Nynaeve the Healer Original Song: Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire Original Lyrics: Chestnuts roasting on an open fire Jack Frost nipping at your nose Yuletide carols being sung by a choir And folks dressed up like Eskimos Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe Help to make the season bright Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow Will find it hard to sleep tonight They know that Santa's on his way He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh And every mother's child is gonna spy To see if reindeer really know how to fly So I'm offering this simple phrase To kids from one to ninety-two Although it's been said many times, many ways Merry Christmas to you So I'm offering this simple phrase To kids from one to ninety-two Although it's been said many times, many ways Merry Christmas to you Variation Lyrics: Chonchons roasted by a mage's fire Jakk Pumpkin poking at my toes Clowns and bards singing songs through the fight And girls played by guys in cute clothes GMs know some talons and a costume box Are sure to make the season rock Little porings splattered all along the road Even sleepers find it hard to sleep tonight They know that adventurers are on their way With dreams of glory on each glowing face The quests are many, but when prices soar They return to farming with stalkers once more And so I am offering my merchant's goods To Talonians from one to ninety-nine If I don't get a sale, then I'll go drink some ale. And Merry Christmas to you! Singing Challenge: I will add a recording of me singing this, maybe when there are no neighbors around to throw things at me. =) Okay, finished recording. I am working in Seoul over the holidays, so I recorded this in a stairwell in a public building. Hard to get a clear recording without someone sneezing or slamming a door, but got it. Guess the Number Guide

In my case, it's easier for me to use '9' as a place holder for the unknown number. Now, for whatever reason, for the past hour, the first number was always 1 or 2. I don't know if this always is the case, or only for that period because I just started the Halloween event today. But the way I beat it twice in a row is as follows: 1.29999, no digits, lower 2. 19999, 1 digit, lower 3. 15999, 1 digit, lower 4. 13999, 1 digit, lower 5. 11999, 2 digits, lower 6. 11599 2 digits, lower 7. 11399, 3 digits, lower 8. 11359, 3 digits, higher 9. 11379, 3 digits, higher 10. 11389, 4 digits, lower 11. 11385, 4 digits, lower 12. 11384, correct The reason it works well with me is that I don't need a pen and paper to keep track of the numbers, since I am only working one place at time and repeating the previous numbers to myself. Getting to the last digit leaves about thirty seconds on the clock.

The Amazing Summer Race 2016 Summer Event

More news on the color palettes. It looks like they have some highlights to some of the original colors. And some are more bold. I got the violet purple color I have been wanting for my high priestess but couldn't find in the normal palette selection. The gold in the special selection is also embossed or highlighted, which makes it look more natural. One thing I am wondering about, the first four are the same color. For high priestess, it's pink, pink, pink, and more pink, no variation in trim or a shade darker or light. Is it possible that when mounted, the mount has a different color? Okay, checked this on gypsy. Apparently, on high priestess, 0-3 are the same color. But, on gypsy, 0-35 all vary.

    Blacksmith guide..

Good point about the meat. I discovered meat and grape juice very late into the game after I already had transcended. I was being too ambiguous, using the term 'mob' broadly to mean monster, as I have heard others say. I meant that in my experience smiths do better with agi than vit in one on one battles or battles with a few monsters at time, since smiths do poorly as tanks compared to other jobs. The idea is kill the target quickly and move on to the next one while avoiding mobs. I corrected the passage above with the correct word. Yes, that is the downside with aspersio. The rental light epsilon, another good suggestion. I'd also like to add that it helps to have a heal slave. I used priest to help level my trans ws and vice versa and now have a 96 whitesmith and 99 high priest. I think having a priest on a second account is a must.

remove 15 minute penalty on vend

In the past, if we needed more time to set up shop, we could log out and log back in to reset the ten minute timer, so that we would not get booted out of the vending spot while we are in the middle of setting up shop. I have also made the mistake of clicking outside the dialogue box when checking @ws and moving items into the vending box. In this instance, my character moved out of the vending spot, so I would have to go back and click on the officer to be put back in a spot. With the updates, I incur a fifteen minute penalty if I try to reposition myself in a new spot. One day, I misclicked and after ten minutes of penalty I got dc'ed on my second attempt, and I was forced to wait another twenty minutes for a spot. I liked it better when we didn't have a penalty. Or if the character could be fixed in place once opening the vending box that would at least solve half the problem.

    pet upgrade addition

For those of us who love our whispers, allowing whisper to be upgraded to giant whisper with an added flee bonus would be a nice addition. Thanks.

    Blacksmith guide..

I don't recommend high orcs because you will be spamming pots. Many people suggest them, but I don't think they are not the best monster for blacksmith. I like monsters that I can flee, so I usually put more into agi early on, so that I make more from drops than I spend on pots. I used only red pots until level 70 thanks to enough agi. I recommend at least 50, but slowly build up str, dex, and vit as well. In my case, I prefer the toy factory for mid levels because myst cases give decent xp and the damage is manageable. Sunken ship is great to mid sixties, so I recommend one of the first things to get is VVS wind axe like Lozaki's wind axe. It has served me well. Put points into dex early on, so you can hit whispers. In my case, I farmed the whisper tame item there to get whisper and trained it to loyal, so that I could get the +7 flee bonus. I also use the wolf's hat to add another +10 flee, so that alleviates the burden of buying pots as well. After all, blacksmiths are supposed to make money, not spend it. Also, poison spores frequently drop karvodailnirol. Hydras drop detrimindexta for making hair dye. VVS wind is great because it also can be used for Comodo dungeon, thara frogs and hydras, and can later be used for Biblian. You can level in B4 on phens. Swordfish's magic attack is dangerous to blacksmiths because of their low int and marcs can be tough, so be careful in that area. But marine spheres drop chains which you can upgrade and put hydra cards in later. Phen cards and marc cards are also worth a pretty penny, The second axe you will need is an epsilon. They can be expensive, but I got a 2 mil card drop and saved another mil from farming and selling hair dye and whatever people were rapidly buying (some guy was buying resins for 700 zeny each). I waited until the price dropped to 3 mil and bought it. The epsilon is good for sphinx, hunting matyrs and requiems. The pyramid is also good for hunting mummies and verits, also valuable card drops. I am still hoping to get an isis card drop for 30% shadow element reduction, but I haven't been so lucky. ; ; Next, you'll want a VVS fire axe. I recently found that Einbech dungeon is a great place to level from the mid 70s to 80s. Toxic gas is a frequent drop here as well as steel and coal. Supposedly, you can sell toxic gas for 6,500 each, but I haven't sold any yet. The coal mine F3 is a good place to hunt skeleton workers and mysts. Again, you can use the epsilon or a fire axe is okay against skeleton workers. I got a great pickaxe drop from a skeleton worker which is the second best pickaxe to mine with. At this point, I started working on my mining skill, which should yield some good items later. There are also a lot of steel and coal drops there as well. You can buy an ice axe to hunt in magma in the 80s. Kahos are fairly easy to kill and give massive xp. I usually avoid the other mobs, especially lava golems. You can also horde other people's drops that they leave lying around for the taking. Greed skill is useful here to pick up loot before being devoured by mobs like lava golem spawning on top of you. All in all, the epsilon has been my best weapon because it can be used in so many places. You can quick warp to Niflheim and cart rev ludes and hylozoists then tele back to Prontera, doctor up, and do it again. I got a lot of xp that way. I don't have advice for the 90s because I just created my blacksmith on Talon RO a couple of weeks ago, so I guess I will be figuring that out as well. I will probably buy an earth axe next and go hunting! Good luck to you!
