Popular Post GM Seiren 3300
TalonRO proudly welcomes you once again to Melodia, home of the Melodia Academy! Founded by two prodigal wizards of their era centuries ago, Melodia town has flourished through the ages. The doors to Melodia and its academy was opened last year as part of the Halloween festival, with numerous new students flocking in and becoming a student of the Melodia Academy. Housed within one of the four houses of Melodia Academy, students competed against each other in a friendly competition. Upon returning to Melodia this year, students will discover that the musical town has been in discord and dissonance all year long. Against all odds, Melodia residents have worked hard to host yet another Halloween festival for everyone while keeping in check about the dangers that lurk around and within the town. Melodia Academy invites you to return to the musical town of Melodia and be part of this year's festivities; enjoy what Melodia has to offer you for Halloween as well as find out what has been plaguing the town for the past 12 months - all in this year's episode of Halloween: Return to Melodia! A visit to Melodia brings you a unique opportunity to play together with your friends, engage in competitive mini games, embark on a spooky quest, and as always - win fantastic prizes! The town of Melodia has undergone some renovation throughout the year, especially the academy building and its nearby forest. To begin, simply find and talk to the Ferryman NPC in Prontera and he will ferry you to Melodia Academy. That is where your adventure truly begins! The Halloween festival at Melodia has been and will always be a competition among the houses of Melodia Academy. As such, participating in the competition requires you to be assigned into one of the four noble houses. House Windsor led by Remy House Guile led by Faa House Sorin led by Sola House Emure led by Sydo Begin the enrollment process by speaking to Monny (The Grand Monemus) in Melodia Academy. You can find Monny in the left wing of the academy building, which is where you are first teleported by the Ferryman. While your preferences will be weighed in, Monny is ultimately responsible for sorting you into a house, and will pick for you based on what it believes your capabilities can offer. Note that your house assignment will apply to all characters within your master account. We highly recommend consolidating your individual participation to one character - so you can maximize your earned points and prizes more effectively! Once you have been assigned into a house, you can embark on this year's Halloween quest by speaking with your house leader. Work together with your friends from other houses and discover what dark forces have been lurking around unseen. The Ferryman will then offer to send you to the town of Melodia, the academy or the Melodia manor at your request! Complimenting the Ferryman's services will be a House Sorin student, Eileen -- give her some Lucky Candy and she will be more than happy to send you to various locations as well! This Halloween, you will receive an achievement and a title upon joining a house! To equip the title once you earn the achievement for joining your house, do the following: If your status menu (aka icons) is not already open, do so by clicking the tiny down arrow right under the Status UI. Go to the bottom left and select the Achievement Challenges Trophy Icon. While in the Achievements UI, select the Adventure tab. Navigate to the Achievement you just earned, go to the bottom right, and click the Collect button. If not already opened, access your Equipment Window by pressing [ALT + Q], and make your way to the right most tab at the top, "Title". You'll see the name of the house you just got sorted to here (Windsor, Guile, Sorin, Emure). Equip it by double clicking it, and that's that! Festivals are about having fun and letting excitement run wild. Melodia brings back some of the mini games from last year with an addition of some new ones as well. Visit the Melodia Manor at the east side of the town and discover multiple rooms of mini games available. Melodia Academy has partnered with the lord of the manor to host competitive games here. Take note though, the butler will always be watching you. Blackjack & Guess the Number The Melodia Haunted Casino is open for business! Play special party-based rounds of Blackjack rotating alongside a haunted Guess the Number mini game. Strike it rich for your opportunity to win tickets! This micro event will be available during the festival, and recommended for when you're waiting in between hourly rounds of other events! MVP Defense Guard your MVP and find treasure chests when in defensive mode, or go on the hunt to fight the opposing team's MVP in offensive mode. The longer your MVP stays alive, the more points your house will earn. Team functions switch when an MVP is killed, meaning that the old defensive team will become the new offense in the next round, and so on! [Update] Both teams will be given unique team costumes that matches the color of the team's MVP. [Update] The teams are now randomized. Halloween Challenge Even the students of Melodia Academy recall this classic Halloween game involving candy - a favorite! Fight through traps and snares and pitfalls as you work your way to collect Candy Bags. Find as many as you can for a higher reward! The Labyrinth Once open, the Labyrinth is the home of some truly foul magic and energy, and it will be up to you and your friends to follow Kirkena's suggestions as you navigate through the challenge. The goal of the Labyrinth is to guide your party of four through the maze as fast as possible successfully! [New] Amazing Ragna-Race Participate with a group of players in a race up the spiraling hill. There will be Horong Booster to increase your speed when ran into temporarily, but watch out for those random Ankle Snares as well! You will find Item Boxes along the race track - these will greatly aid you by giving a boost or slowing everybody else down. If you're lucky, you might even swap position with another racer ahead of you or slow everybody else down! The fastest three racers to cross the finishing line on the bridge at the hilltop will be crowned as winners. Winning 1st place will earn points for your house! This is definitely not a casual stroll up a hill. [New] Shadow Tag In this team based game, all 4 houses in a free for all setting be assigned to kill a Doom Trooper named after their house. However, not every Doom Trooper is fond of being attacked. They can retaliate by disrupting your attacks. First person to take down his/her team's Doom Trooper will win some house points and all members of the winning house participating in the game can walk away with some Halloween tickets and bragging rights. If on rotation still and a Doom Troop is defeated. There is a short cooldown before they spawn again and another round begins. If the time runs out before any Doom Trooper has been taken down, the team with the lowest Doom Trooper health will be declared the winning team. [Returning] Whack-A-Ghostring A squadron of Ghostrings will appear in this mini game for you to whack. Whacking the correct Ghostring will earn you some points but be cautious though, whacking the wrong one will cost you points. Keep an eye out on the emoticons used by the Ghostrings! Whack your way to victory by becoming the person who belts the most Ghostring correctly in 5 minutes. Outside the manor, you can find town games being hosted by Melodia residents as well. Poring Seek Mischievous Porionettes roam around the town when this mini game begins - can you be the one to kill the most within five minutes? You'll race against the clock and one another to see who will win the round, plus the house with the most wins will win additional team-wide points! Simon Says Copy the movements exactly as ordered - or else, you're out! Be sure to follow the instructions carefully in this minigame which is harder than it looks. If you win, points and tickets await - plus the house with the most wins will win additional team-wide points! Simon Sequence You've obeyed Simon, but can you find all the Simons in this meta-Simon experience?! If so, follow the sequence closely and run around the Festival for a chance to earn points for you and your house. At the west side of Melodia, Zarevok guards the entrance to the Racas Forest. Speak to him to gain access and venture into the woods surrounding the town of Melodia. Hunting Grounds [Update] Hunting Grounds are now open all the time. Tickets only drop during Happy Hour. Read below for details. [Update] Embark on an exploration into The Racas Forest by choosing one of the three difficulties available. Choose a difficulty that best suits what you can handle! There is no longer a Vanilla and Unrestricted split. Easy : Relatively approachable for just about anybody. This difficulty does not have an MvP monster roaming inside it! However, it has the lowest ticket rate and experience rates. Intermediate : A step up from Easy, meant for the middle of the road adventurer. An MvP will spawn here! The ticket rate, experience, and drops here are very suitable for the intended skill level. Nightmare : Meant for the most hardcore of adventurers. The experience, drops, and ticket rates are all excellent here and are definitely worth the time and effort. However, the monsters are very difficult and the MvP here is especially difficult. If you can, try to bring a party here, preferably with fellow house members! [Update] There is a new system for Halloween Tickets here this year. You can now expect a Happy Hour Mechanic which is enabled while Black Jack and Guess The Number are down. During this happy hour, monsters have an X% chance (based on chosen difficulty) to drop tickets when killed. Depending on the chosen difficulty you can drop a set amount of tickets per happy hour session: Easy : 20 Tickets Intermediate : 25 Tickets Nightmare : 30 Tickets While the Happy Hour is enabled, monster kills will grant you points. These points will be tallied at the end of the Happy Hour. The House with the most earned points will win that Happy Hour and earn points toward the final score for their house this year! The way points are distributed are as follows. The amount varies depending on difficulty.: Every 3 normal monster kills. Killing an MvP rewards a massive amount of points. All three difficulties are purely PvM orientated. Upon completion of the Halloween quest, you will unlock a one-of-a-kind MVP Instance. MVP Instance This year, an all-new instance dungeon awaits you as the hardest part of this year's festival. Embark on a journey to learn more about the dark forces lurking around Melodia as part of this season's Halloween quest! In addition, if you find the Mysterious Coffin, you may venture into an optional side quest! Competitions are the essence of the Halloween festival! The competitive activities offered by Melodia pits all four houses against each other through a huge variety of mini games, designed to test your skills, proficiency and perhaps luck as well. Be certain to try out all of them to experience everything Melodia has to offer you, and also earn points for your house and tickets for yourself. House Points will determine which of the four houses will emerge as victorious this year. House points can be earned by anyone for their team through participating in the Halloween mini games. The Melodia Academy registrar will be keeping a record of the scores hidden until the end of the Halloween festival, when the winning house and runner-up house will be announced! A special prize will also go to all adventurers who are affiliated with the winning houses this year! Spoiler The house that places first will win one of these at its member's own choice:Blessing of Angels Costume (account bound)Middle Headgear Costume Halloween Poring Bag (account bound)Garment Costume Garling Pet (account bound) The house that comes in second will win a Garling Pet (account bound) Special Honorary Degrees will be awarded to the thirteen (13) most intrepid adventurers who have helped to settle this year's tie. Individual prizes will be handed out to winners of various mini games who have demonstrated that their skills are on par with the best-in-class students of each house! Those individuals with the most points at the end of the entire Halloween festival will be announced and receive a special, exclusive prize! Note that top-performance is character driven - so to compete in this area, we recommend participating in the Haunted Festival using a single character of your choice, as points are not tallied across all characters in your master account. Overall, thirteen (13) players will win for top performance in each of the following categories: The top-three (3) Town-Wide minigame / Limited Capacity minigame winners by accumulated points. Performance will be based on the number of points accumulated on your character for: Halloween Challenge, Whack-A-Ghostring, Poring Seek, Simon Says, and Simon Sequence. Points accumulated through Blackjack will NOT count toward this individual performance total. The top-three (3) Hunting minigame killers by accumulated points: Performance is based on the number of monsters killed. This score is cumulative across all three difficulties, so you are highly recommended to play in all modes to earn the maximum amount of points in this category! The top-three (3) MVP Defense Treasure Chest breakers, Amazing Ragna Race winners and Shadow Tag winners. Performance in MVP Defense is based on the number of Treasure Chests opened while you are playing on defense (remember that opening Treasure Chests while on offense will cause you to *lose* points!). Keeping the MVP alive while on defense will contribute points toward your house score, while opening Treasure Chests will contribute points toward your individual performance scores in the Degree awards. In the Amazing Ragna Race, the Top 3 will gain points towards this competition. Of course, the better you do, the higher your score! For Shadow Tag, every time you kill your MVP, you will gain points for the competition! The single fastest party of four (4) in the Labyrinth when this mini game is made available. Be on the lookout for the Labyrinth mini game during the Haunted Festival. You'll be able to form parties of four (4) players for this mini game. The party of four (4) with the fastest completion time in the Labyrinth will win a Degree Award this year as well! In recognition of outstanding efforts, each of this year's thirteen Degree recipients will receive two special prizes: Deviling Pet (not account-bound!) - considerably rare, this pet is sure to let everyone know that you're a powerful student of Melodia! Your choice of MVP Card! Cards eligible for this prize are those currently available from the Talon Shop. Maya Purple is furthermore excluded from this list. Halloween Tickets can be accumulated and traded in for a wide array of wonderful prizes this year! This is surely one thing that you'll want to collect! Earn these tickets throughout multiple activities in the Melodia, and trade them with the Halloween Prize NPC, located just above the docks in Melodia, for a variety of wonderful and magical prizes. What magical prizes await you this year? Surely, there is only one way to find out! Trade in your Halloween Tickets at the Halloween Prize NPC in the for any of the following amazing prizes: Trade a single (1) Halloween Ticket for a Dead Branch. Trade six (6) Halloween Tickets for a Trick or Treat Box! [Note] Trick or Treat Boxes are account-bound, as they were last year, however its contents can mostly be traded. Poriwing Pet will be available in the Trick or Treat Boxes this year! Various other new items were added as well, such as new cards! Trade fifty (50) Halloween Tickets for a chance at winning one of six exclusive costumes in a raffle style! On top of that you can choose to go for last year's costumes, too! [Note] These costumes are account-bound. Trade a hundred (100) Halloween Tickets in for a Bloody Branch! Halloween Tickets are character-bound, so you are strongly encouraged to earn those tickets using a single character. Looking for some food and drinks? Perhaps you're in the mood for something seasonal? While exploring the brand new, never before seen lands of Melodia Town, perhaps you should make your way to the Melodia Bar or Melodia Academy's Cafeteria and perhaps you can treat yourself to a Halloweenie Special or Melodia Matchan! Octelli and Carlisle give it two thumbs up! Simply have some Lucky Candy on hand and they'll be more than willing to share their pride and joy when it comes to the culinary world! Completing the Halloween quest this year will reward you with a Bicolor Cat Witch Hat Costume (account-bound). Gamemaster GM Radius 737 Posted October 30, 2019 Gamemaster Share Posted October 30, 2019 We would like to hear about what you like/dislike, what's done well and what can be done better next Halloween, etc. Any feedback would be nice. 1 1
Cueio 176
Everything seems good so far. Good job everyone. I'l update with anything I find. Edit1: Actually I found this: Spoiler On 10/29/2019 at 8:25 PM, GM Seiren said: Halloween Tickets are character-bound, so you are strongly encouraged to earn those tickets using a single character. The red tickets are currently allowed to be deposited in Kafra. I personally think thats really nice, because of the nature of the events and stuff, switching chars sometimes is inevitable. (E.G. MVP defense team have no priest, so you can join as priest without "wasting" the tickets you win). The main quest being short is really nice, so people that want to try the instance will probably not be discouraged by long quests. The hunting grounds being open all the time is really good. Being able to farm candies and the other "mysterious" stuff there at anytime is great. The Melodia map this year is way to big, but thats my humble opinion haha. The MVP defense and the Shadow Tag seemed imbalanced, in teh hours I played. The competition didnt happen at all. It felt more like "farming spot" for whatever team/house was already with advantage. Edit2: I loved that there are Easter Eggs everywhere. For those that like exploring (like me) they're awesome. Finding them was nice (I probably didnt got all) The Amazing Race was fun but a bit too random imo. For all (almost all) the rounds I played, whoever got in the 1st position at the beggining won the round. The Shadow Tag stills good even after those changes. The forest MVP Bosses yielding points to the one that gave the last hit is a problem to me. Not sure if intended. It makes sense that the "MVP Player" get the points. Keele 97
Would like for the Ragna race to have a bit faster walking speed. It's a bit too easy to walk 99% perfectly right now. Also noticed that the horong boosters dont seem to spawn?

The boosters not spawning properly was a problem and should be fixed when the server is back up. Perhaps this will satisfy the walking speed request.
Inotia 11
I really like the Ragna race, but I think those horong boosters give too much advantage to the person in front. From front position you can just get every horong boost, and they will be gone for anyway that's close behind you. You can often still win even with getting caught in a couple traps (and the swapping doesn't happen that often). Some things that might help from the top of my head, without knowing anything about how hard it would be to implement: - Increase amount of random scattered traps - Make horong boosters slow you sometimes instead - Make the slows from chests slow the person in front even more compared to the rest compared to what it is now - Make the slows from chests overwrite the speed boosts - Make horong spawn and dissapear 'randomly' so they won't be always available for the front runner Anyway, really cool minigame and event! Thank you for this insightful feedback. Really happy to hear that everybody is enjoying this new minigame, and I'm always looking to make improvements! Wouldn't mind adding more random traps if they aren't triggered enough. Should be pretty easy to do that. You're right about the Horong Boosters when it comes to 1st place. We could most likely just add a similar mechanic to that as we do for item box, where if you're in first place, you only get the ankle snare surprise and not the warp/lightning bolt. Will implement a solution for this on the monthly reboot potentially. As for the lightning bolt slowdown. It actually does already slow down the 1st place user more than everybody else. But if it needs to be reduced more, I'll test this myself my end and if applicable can make that change for the monthly reboot potentially. Also, great suggestion for the lightning bolt cancelling the speed boost! In hindsight that's actually a bit of an oversight and it should really cancel any speed boost. Will note that for changes!

PrideFries 171
What Inotia said on ragna race. Before, ppl even with slow connection can still win by just patiently avoiding traps and making good turns on corners. Now with horong booster, its like 90% chance whoever got it will win. Another thing on the chest swap function, make it so that if ever ur in lead (1st 2nd 3rd) it will just pick another random effect like slow or snares not swap u from the lead to the worst place at the back. Make it a good chest swap. Edited November 1, 2019 by PrideFries
Josh 7
On Racas Forest Hunting grounds: - Maybe we can remove happy hour cool down but lower ticket drop rate and Increase kill for points? It's kinda hard to commit to playing the event with the one hour cooldown in place. - I think the Nightmare MVP points are a bit too much. Maybe around 1k to 1.5k as people seem to be killing it everytime it's up. Intermediate Boss seems to be in a good place and I think it's fair for the Nightmare MVP points to be 3x and or 5x more. - I also think the monsters in Intermediate and Nightmare dispels a little but too much. - Lastly and this is important imo, could it be possible to change the account bound costumes to forum account costumes? Some of us have diff chars in diff accounts and would love to transfer these unique costumes around to our other characters. Would like to know everyone's opinion on above stated points. Additionally, Thank you for an Awesome Halloween. The effort really shows. Edited November 2, 2019 by Josh

Head Gamemaster GM Phoenix 341 Posted November 2, 2019 Head Gamemaster Share Posted November 2, 2019 Thanks again for the wonderful feedback! Will address a couple things. 22 hours ago, Sniggy said: I often leave Shadow Tag bleeding and with or without proper gears have died in the hallway outside. Could you put a doctor there for us? Thanks! We can absolutely do this, will make sure that makes it for the next patch. It will be above where Sid Barrett is in the Locker Room. Thanks for the suggestion! 19 hours ago, PrideFries said: What Inotia said on ragna race. Make it a good chest swap. 1) The booster logic is going to be changed for the next patch round so that it's no longer a global delay and instead is individually based cooldowns. This should make it more accessible to all racers so that this advantage doesn't happen like it currently does as you describe. 1st place also won't benefit from the booster as much as everybody else. Thanks for the suggestion! 2) I don't quite understand what you mean by the second point though. Could you elaborate a bit? 1st place already only gets the Ankle Snare power only from the item chest and will never get the Lightning Bolt or Warp. Do you mean to also include a similar mechanic for 2nd and 3rd as well? Thanks! 15 hours ago, Josh said: On Racas Forest Hunting grounds: - Maybe we can remove happy hour cool down but lower ticket drop rate and Increase kill for points? Intermediate Boss seems to be in a good place and I think it's fair for the Nightmare MVP points to be 3x and or 5x more. - I also think the monsters in Intermediate and Nightmare dispels a little but too much. 1) This won't change. This is already an improvement over last year's 2018 system after a lot of feedback where the entire dungeon was on rotation and only open for like an hour and had a vanilla/unres split which was historically unpopular. Now the dungeons are always open and ticket drops are available every time Black Jack is not open (basically every other game/hour) up until a certain point, which means tickets can't be over farmed so much that they overshadow every other game. But it also means that it's frequent enough unlike last year. Making it a lot more reasonable and fair. For points, this is why Nightmare mobs give more points than Easy and Intermediate. The map is a lot harder but in exchange the point progression is better than both difficulties under it. 2) The points thing was actually a typo, it actually currently is 1,000 points for Borg The Destroyer but Zarevok has a mistake where he claims it's 5,000. Will fix that for the next patch so it's accurate. Thanks for pointing that out! 3) Intermediate Dispell rate is currently a 5% chance at 60 seconds, which is rather infrequent. However I understand the frustration there especially for a mid-game player. As for Nightmare, it's way more frequent. In Nightmare this is intentional so that way it adds some more challenge to the map. So as a result, that won't change for Nightmare. However for Intermediate, what I'll do is add a cast time which makes it so you can interrupt it and more predictable so you have a chance to avoid it (via GTB swap or whatever else). 1

We can absolutely do this, will make sure that makes it for the next patch. It will be above where Sid Barrett is in the Locker Room. Thanks for the suggestion! Thanks! 1) This won't change. Valeyard 11
In Guess The Number, whenever you guess a right digit, you get warped inside the 'clue' portion of the room. When you warp out of that, you're warped inside the Casino 'proper'. Sometimes when you get warped out, you can't see the Warper Girl by default, and you need to walk closer to talk to her. It wastes precious guessing time. I have not checked Whack-a-Ghostring if it still causes crashes, but the recent patch notes have not mentioned any fixes for that. I'll go check it out later. Anti-AFK system for Shadow Tag is too strict. Statuses inflicted by the Doom Troopers like Sleep and Stone Curse can cause you not to be able to do anything, making you considered 'AFK' and not be able to get tickets when it ends. If you literally can't do anything, if your attacks miss, the system punishes you by considering you as AFK despite the fact that you are not. Valeyard 11
We always get warped out of the Casino when it closes. I propose that it let us finish the current BJ / GTN round before it warps us out, like it does with every other existing Melodia minigame. Ferryman NPC should be in every town too. Sniggy 97
Valeyard I agree with the AFK as to strict and would like to add that the HP amt for the Troopers should be reset once the team has lost. Instead it just keeps growing and growing... which sort of defeats the sense of competition. Your comments in the Guess the Number have been said in years past and as its the same for all.. nothing really needs to be changed there, it would be nice but its even for all houses and players. ◄Greed► 53
November update ruined The Amazing Ragna Race for me. It used to be cool when boosters disappeared after use, this created some running tactics. If you run to the booster and someone ahead of you, then you lose advantage from the main group of people. It was the only event that I liked of all that you have ever created. The only thing missing was an increase in the number of random traps and a stronger slowdown of the one who runs first. Sniggy 97
Odd bug in MVP defender, feel free to move this post to Bugs if you want but I know you're tracking this thread. I entered MVP defender with only kaho on and was assigned the purple. Fought as purple jester for a good 10 min until another house mate asked why I was on the wrong team. I relogged and got the pink/orange wig on reentry.. the color remains the purple hue while the hat is clearly the wig. Edited November 4, 2019 by Sniggy New snap
Inotia 11
Hey, I like to address some 'issues' with the Whack-A-Ghostring game. When you are playing with people that understand the rules of the game (not to whack the bad ghosts) you often find only 'bad ghosts' left after like 30 seconds. At this points often nobody has even reached the minimum amount of 35 points in order to win. The only way to continue is by whacking the bad ghosts and thus resetting your score to 0, essentially taking yourself out of the game (since there is only a limited amount of points until you arrive at the next stalemate, and at this point you are too far behind to catch up). So usually nobody will whack those bad ghosts, realistically ending the game in the first 30 seconds often without a winner. The only way to keep the game going is to get a second char to click all the bad ghosts, but I don't even know if that's allowed. I think this 'problem' could be fixed by letting (bad) ghosts dissapear after a certain amount of time has past (for instance 10 seconds). PS Nice work on The Amazing Ragna Race!
TheStranger 92
Just want to second Valeyard's suggestion about the afk-timer in Shadow Tag (the afk timer being shorter than status duration) and Inotia's suggestion about Whack-a-ghostring (let the ghosts expire after some time). And maybe adding a top 3 ranking for whack-a-ghostring? Edited November 5, 2019 by TheStranger
