GM Luna 783 Posted December 23, 2020 Greetings to you all citizens of Midgard! With the cozy chills of the Holiday season, we're pleased to open this year's Holiday Cook Off! What a rough year right? So nothing better to make it happier with a bit of Holiday Cooking. We want to see those recipes that bring a smile to your face and remind you of good times you spend with friends and family during this time of year. We would absolutely love to see some traditional recipes with a TalonRO spin to them! This will test your creativity with both cooking and story telling! 🍪 Create story that does not exceed 1,500 words, let your creativity flow through you! 🥛 The dish will need to be TalonRO / RO related. Not just any dish and giving it a Ragnarok name. There must be a clear TalonRO / RO theme and explanation is a must if the connection is not obvious. 🍪 Make sure to write down and take pictures of all necessary steps that you have done as well as the ingredients that you have used to achieve your award winning dish! 🥛 If you are baking, make sure to include the Celsius or Farenheit 🍪 Make sure to include your IGN somewhere in the photograph of your dish so that we'll confirm that you made it. 🥛 Name your creation! 🍪 You must absolutely include a final picture. 🥛 Last and not least, make sure YOU HANDCRAFT your recipe. Online recipes or choices can inspire you, but make sure you post the entire recipe you've used and make it RO-themed somehow. January 20th 2021 00:01 Server time Luna's Angeling Beef & Onion Pie with mash potatoes and mixed vegetables May the blessing of the Divine Poring king be with you, young adventurers, you who wish to reach the summit may this pie bring you warmth and strength needed for your journey. Story Time Hide contents On the outskirts of Kamidal Mountain, the snowfall is harsh, and the howling winds will cut through the strongest of steel, those who venture into the unknown unprepared will meet an unforgivable fate. *** It has been three years since that encounter, unforgettable day, Sakura and I were rescued from a cluster Dolomedes. We decided one day to adventure into the mountains around El Dicastes, we heard stories of beautiful gems found upon the mountains and with Christmas closing in we thought that these would make lovely gifts. We didn't expect the storm would rage this much, and then we felt it, vibrations coming from the ground, something ... something was coming towards us, but we couldn't see through the blizzard, in the distance we could see glowing light moving against the white snow. Sakura: " Captain, run!" Captain: "No, I won't leave you behind." At that moment, I thought that it couldn't end like this; they are waiting for us, our family, and our friends. Then I saw it this fiery light dancing in the distance, and something told me to run towards it. Run. Run. RUN I told myself, get up and RUN. "Sakura, give me your hand." We ran toward that warm light, and there she stood, a young girl with silver hair and what I could see a fiery scarf around her neck, what was a young girl doing out in the middle of nowhere and by herself and why was she starring at the sky like that and the storm didn't affect her. I shouted out "Can you help us, please, they are coming for us". Our eyes met, blood-red eyes looking right through my soul, she pointed at the sky, and a giant fiery bird appeared from the sky and hovered above us, it spread its wings, and the snow melted behind the mountain cliff, and a hut appeared and there stood another young girl who looked like a Valkyrie. At this moment the monsters caught up to us, but they dare not move any further, baring their fangs at us. "Seasons greetings, Adventures. Do not fear. They dare not come any closer. You look hungry, why don't I show you how to make my Angeling Pie?" How to make Angeling Pie Hide contents Preparing the pastry – shortcrust pastry If you have the time you can prepare the pastry the night before. If you are short on time you will need to make the pastry 1hr before cooking and let it set in the fridge. I will be making two batches of pastry one for the bottom of and one for the top & decorations. The below measure reflects this. Plain flour 440g Unsalted Butter 300g 4-6 tsp of cold water or milk 2 teaspoons of Salt · Shift 220g plain flour & 150g unsalted butter into mixing bowl and rub together with the tips of your fingers until it resembles breadcrumb texture. It is important not to mix it with your hands as we do not want the butter to melt quickly. Note: If you have a food processor you can use this as well but when mixing everything together make sure you pulse (short bursts) the mix and not a continuous mix. Once the mixture has turned into fine breadcrumbs first add 1tsp of water or milk and mix, then add another teaspoon. Normally 2 tsp will be enough. but if you feel your mixture is little dry then add another teaspoon. Sprinkle some flour on surface and wrap your pastry in cling film and place into fridge. 15min before cooking take your pastry out of the fridge. Beef and Onion filling 1 beef stockpot 1 veg stockpot 2 tablespoons of Worchester Sauce 1 tablespoon of Virgin olive oil 1 large onion 2 teaspoons of pepper 2 teaspoons of salt 100g beef 500ml hot water 1 egg · (Personal preferences) put the beef pieces in a strainer and hold it under cold water to get rid of any excess blood from the packaging and then place in a bowl. Turn the stove on medium heat and add olive oil into a pot. While waiting for the oil to heat go ahead and start chopping your onion. Once the pot is heated add the onion in, stir for a bit until soft but not brown then add in the beef. Add in salt and pepper Cook until the beef is little brown on the outside, turn them once in while so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pan. While the beef is cooking you can make your stock. In a measuring glass add the beef and veg stock and then add 500ml of hot water and stir. Once the beef has browned add in the stock and let it simmer for few mins. Then transfer into slow cooker and cook for two hours, if you do not have a slower cooker you can leave on the stove on a low heat. This is to help tenderise the beef and bring the flavours together. 2 hours later Prepare the Mash Potatoes Peel and cut the potatoes then place in a bowl of cold water so they do not dry out. Cut into piece so they do not take too long to soften. Blind Baking the pastry We do this so the bottom of the pie is not wet and the sauce doesn’t soak through. Coat your baking dish with butter and take one half of the pastry and place into your baking dish, with a glass or spoon carefully mold the pastry to the shape of the dish. Place some cling film in the pastry bowl and fill with 1 or 2 small cups of rice or clay beans then seal the top of the cling film. Place in the oven at 190c for 10 minutes and then take the rice bag out of the dish, return to oven, and leave for another 5mintues for the bottom of the pastry to turn brown. Once done take out of the oven and place to one side. Making mash potatoes In a pot add hot water and bring to boil. Drain away the cold water from the potatoes and add to the hot water. Wait 15 to 20 minutes and poke a potato piece to see if it is soft. (while waiting you can start preparing the top part of the pie) Once soft drain away water and add in 2 tablespoons of butter and a pinch of salt and mix. Note: you can use milk or cream as well. With a potato masher (or a fork) mash potatoes pieces until they become fluffy, I personally like my mash potatoes to have small potatoes bits inside. Top part of the pie & the filling (this can be done while you are waiting for the potatoes to boil) Roll out the second part of your pastry on to a flat surface dusted with some flour and cut in half, one part will be used for the top layer and the other will be used to decorate the pie. Place to one side. Add the beef and onion to the pie dish add a little bit of the stock so the pie is not dry on the instead. Break the egg into a small bowl and beat with a pastry brush line the outer part of the dish with egg and then place the flat pastry on top and with a small knife cut any excess pastry away. With a fork gently press the sides down to steal the bottom and top together. Coat the top part of with some egg. With the left-over pastry start to create your decoration, use a small knife to help shape each piece. Note: The oven dish I used is 17cm, the decoration on top ended up being little big so I needed to cut a lot away to get it to fit on top of the pie. Coat the top of the pie with egg and it is ready to go into the oven for 25 – 30min at 220c Do not forget to make a few slits on the pie so it can breathe while cooking. Once the potatoes are done you can go ahead and boil the veg, which takes 3min Then plate up and serve, this dish feed 2 people but you could probably feed 3 depending on the portions Then serve everything on to a plate Few notes after taking my first bite: I made the decoration pastry little too thick, make sure decoration at the top is thin. Also, felt I could have chopped the beef in half again to get more meat with each bite. My sauce didn’t end up being as thick as I wanted it to be, if you want a thicker sauce before placing the diced beef into the pot coat them in some flour mixed with salt and pepper. 🍪 Top three winners Loyal BonusWhen summoned,Increases duration of Stat foods by 50%. 🍪 20 Talon Coins 🥛 1 Monthly Costume Box 🍪 1 Lv. 10 Cookbook 🥛 1 Fantastic Cooking Kit 🍪 4th place: 🥛 20 Talon Coins 🍪 1 Monthly Costume Box 🍪 5th place: 🥛 15 Talon Coins 🍪 1 Monthly Costume Box 🍪 Participation Prize 🥛 1 Lv. 10 Food Bundle. Yes that’s right. More on the lines of a Disney horror story rather than a Freddy Kruger nightmare.
YuRaiden 100 Posted December 27, 2020 So... definitely not a kid shaped bungeoppang or maybe mochi, filled with red beans and 'eviscerated' to show the filling, covered in red syrup, laying 'dead' on a powdered sugar field of bloodied snow.

rangelaaz 16 Posted January 1 ~Azey's TalonRO 2020 Holiday Cooking Contest Entry Payon Field Strawberry Tart Story Time: Azey’s Regret Spoiler Little Azey lived with mom and dad and little brother in northern Brasilis. Azey’s Mom was a healer, a very accomplished one, respected, human, and caring with everyone she took care. Even so, i think mommy was lonely, because she loved nature, hiking and beaches, and Azey only stayed inside playing games. Mommy decided to go to Cooking School. And she was great at it. Cakes, pies, macarons, all tasted great! Mommy found friends, Mommy found a hobby, and we hanged out more, and I think things were great... but then... Mommy got sick. Mommy fought hard, but cancer took her away. Little Azey misses her too much. Azey wanted to be close to Mommy again, but how? Big Azey is a healer now too, and met a lot of people at work that loved Mommy too. One day, Azey was going though mommy’s things. And found a cookbook. Full of recipes from mommy’s cooking school. Full of scribbles and handwritten changes and correcions on the pages. And that day, Azey found Mommy again. Azey went through the recipes, trying and trying, as Azey never cooked before, but at least in spirit, Mommy was there to help. Payon Field Strawberry Tart Mommy’s Recipe with an Azey twist Ingredients: Spoiler Tart Crust: All-Purpose Flour, 200g Unsalted Butter, 100g (Cold) Refined Sugar, 30g Salt, 1 pinch Egg, 1 ea. It is basically a Jam, but won’t solidify because i dont add citrus or any thickening agents. You can also do like me, double recipe and save some to eat on breakfast with some toast 1. Clean Strawberries in running water. Spores maybe be dirty, you don’t know where they been 2. Using a Knife [4], dice the strawberries, removing leafy top. Smaller the bits, smoother the jam, bigger the bits, chunkyer. Up to you. 3. Wait for Boil! 7. After that, stir a bit, and the mixture will reduce and thicken slightly, and you can take off the heat. It usually takes 20min or so, but tends to vary a lot, sorry. GM Xing 134 Posted January 5 Keep the entries going people! I'd love to see your beautiful dishes! On 1/2/2021 at 1:41 AM, rangelaaz said: ~Azey's TalonRO 2020 Holiday Cooking Contest Entry Payon Field Strawberry Tart Story Time: Azey’s Regret Reveal hidden contents Little Azey lived with mom and dad and little brother in northern Brasilis. Payon Field Strawberry Tart Mommy’s Recipe with an Azey twist Ingredients: Reveal hidden contents Tart Crust: All-Purpose Flour, 200g Unsalted Butter, 100g (Cold) Refined Sugar, 30g Salt, 1 pinch Egg, 1 ea. Milk 15ml Pie baking tin, removable bottom, shallow. For decoration Prep: Pen, Paper and Scissors Filling: Sweetened Condensed Milk, 2 cans (2x 395g) Topping: Fresh Strawberry 500g Refined Sugar 250g Leftover Nutella or melted chocolate Disclamer: in the Picture, ingredients are displayed in double. (had extended Family over, baked extra) Making Topping: Strawberry Runny Jam Reveal hidden contents Yes. I make the topping first, because it needs a long time to cool down. Up to you. 3. Add the dice strawberries with the sugar to a LARGE pan.Hint: ammount of sugar is Always half the weight of the strawberries. So you can ajust the quantities if you need. 4. BEFORE YOU START THE HEAT: mix until sugar absorbs the strawberry juices and u get something like this: 5. Turn on the stove at low heat, and leave it there. You do NOT need to keep stirring. Just leave it there to boil. You only need to scrape bottom every 2 minutes or so to make sure nothing is sticking. If you mixed well before, you shouldn’t have any caramelization. 6. Wait for Boil! 7. After that, stir a bit, and the mixture will reduce and thicken slightly, and you can take off the heat. It usually takes 20min or so, but tends to vary a lot, sorry. Take it off heat when you have someting that looks like this when stirred: 8. Transfer CAREFULLY to a glass Jar. We don’t have Pasana Card IRL afterall. 9. Take it to the Frigde to Cool down, and Save it for later. Making Creamy Filling: Reveal hidden contents Not to be confused with : 1. Open Condensed Milk cans or boxes 2. Pour on Pan 3. Turn On Low Heat 4. STIR CONSTANTLY. Now you just stay there and stir it with a spatula so it doesn’t stick in pan. If it starts to stick, it will get lumpy. Silicone Spatulas are best. 5. It will start to boil. Keep stirring until you see large bubbles, and the mixture makes a snake sound when you scrape the bottom of the pan. You will also be able to see the pan bottom when you scrape, when its done. Here’s pic: 6. When you get to that point, turn off heat and let it cool. It will harden when cooled, to something like this: Baking Tart Crust: Reveal hidden contents 1. Pre-Heat Oven to 180ºC 2. Mix Flour, Sugar, Salt in a bowl 3. /Dice COLD butter 4. Add the butter dices to the mixture, and brake them up with your hands (pls wash hands before) until incorporated like this: 5. Add Milk and Egg, and combine it with your hands. Things will get sticky. Keep pressing it to the bowl and it will comine into this: 6. Cover it in Plastic wrap, and put it on Freezer for 15min. 7. While you wait, let’s prep decorations. With Pen and Paper, draw out your plan. I chose Spore since they drop Strawberries, and i can use the jam as the red color of the caps. Then, think about what parts of the drawing u need as dough, and draw it separately, so they can be stencils. For Sizing, i used the bottom of the removable pan to draw a circle on the paper, to help figure out how big the design needs to be in final product. 8. With your Stencils ready, take out the dough, take a little bit out 9. Roll it very thin on a baking tray - cut it directly in the tray, because they will lose shape if you try to pick it up. 10. Place Stencil, and cut around it with a knife. Not Easy, but sure swift motions help 11. Work hard to make all pieces. Then bake them for around 15min. Here i show my pieces looked pre-bake. 12. FINALLY CRUST TIME! Roll out the rest of the dough in the pie tin, and press to the sides. Honestly, I do everything with my hands. Press press press and you’re good! After that, Poke Holes in with a fork, so crust doesnt ‘puff up’ 13. Bake at 180ºC for 22min. Do not expect it to Golden up too much. It is a low sugar crust, so it will stay pale, but it will harden. Check mine after bake: Avengers ASSEMBLE! let's put it all together Reveal hidden contents 1. After your crust cool down a bit, its ready for filling. 2. Dollop the condensed-condensed milk filling in the middle, and even it out with a spatula. 3. Pour the Strawberry Jam topping on it. I love it, so i cover the whole thing 4. Prepare some Leftover Nutella in a ziplock bag so you can pipe in the eyes, mouth and piece together the pieces of the Spore 5. Finally, put the Spore on the Tart and You’re done! I hope you enjoy my recipe! ^-^ Here are the GM Challenges I picked: GM Spica – my recipe is def not for lactose intolerants. GM Lance – ok, its a tart not a pie. But its close enough. I gotta Shoot my Shot x_x GM Alisa – In Game instructions: Reveal hidden contents Ingredients: Strawberry (50) – Drops from Spores, Pay_fild01 Sweet Sauce (30) – Protera Cooking Shop NPC Bag of Flour (1) – Toast Shop in Yuno 217, 114 Egg (1) - Toast Shop in Yuno 217, 114 Witch Starsand (30) – Drops from Bathory, Aldebaran Dun Underground Milk (5) – Milk Ranch Seller – Prontera, Izlude. Home Made Chocolate(1) – GM events, preferrably, Alisa’s Sink Or Swim. Royal Cooking Kit(1) - Dimiks in juperos Gear: Knife[4] – Drops from Poring – Toy Factory 1, because festive. Luna Kaleet[3] – Drops from Tatacho – Veins Fields Chef’s Hat – Quest: Lutie Vending Machine [120 Piece of Cake, 450 Dragon Scale, 1 White Dyestuffs, 330 Feather] for swag. Intructions: 1. Go to Kiel Hyre Cooking School [kh_school 175,60]and ask Lecollane permission to use kitchen2. Prepare Jam using 50 Strawberry, 12 Sweet Sauce, and 10 Witch Starsand. Here, we’re using WSS as thickening Agent, as we do not have real sugar. However, we have its efficacy proven by Alchemists, so its fine. Make Sure you have Knife and Chef Hat equipped for this step, and Use Stove next to Lecollane3. After that, prepare filling with Milk, 12 Sweet Sauce, and 20 Witch Starsand. We dont have Condensed Milk in RO, so u gotta do it yourself. This, however, has a 20% chance to fail. You may need to gather ingredients again. Have Chef’s hat equipped and use Stove again.4. For the Crust, You’re gonna use Luna Kalleet as Pie Tin. So gear swap to that. This time, Use Oven. (PS: Tested on Old Stove/Waste Stove from ein_dun. Too Hot for baking)5. Once You have Payon Field Strawberry Jam, Condensed White Cream, and Mommy Tart Crust in your inventory, use Royal Cooking Kit and Pray. Marionette Control and Priest Buffs Recommended. Enjoy! And so I don’t get disqualified, he’s a Pic with the leftovers and my ign on it (yes, I forgot, and I served before posting) Happy Holidays, ~Azey ... and here are some bugged duplicate pictures i couldn't remove: please disregard lmao (first forum post, couldn't figure this out) Got to love the spore! It honestly looks delicious!
Bababoowee 14 Posted January 11 Bababoowee's Roast Beef - TalonRO 2020 Holiday Cooking Contest Storyline: After a few boozy cocktails on Christmas Eve with friends, we decided to go level at a dungeon. After a few hours of leveling, we started to hear our tummies grumbling. We got hangry. We got tired and weaker, I fell and started tumbling. I tumbled into a Majoruros and thought to myself, “He’s looking really yummy”. Maybe the Majoruros can go into my tummy?!?! While I was spacing out, my friends above yelled “BLAHBLAHBLAWOOWEE, INCOMING!” The Majoruros was headed straight to me with his huge hammer ready to strike at me. Without hesitation, I took my wrench from my pocket and I whacked at him. How dare he!? But I also stood there and thought to myself “damn, I just killed a beast” Well, that’s too bad, it’s time for a big feast. Ingredients for Roast Beef 1 Roughly 7-pound prime rib, bone in. This would feed at least 7-8 people. *I asked the butcher to cut off the bones, stuff it with some garlic, and tie the bones back on. I prefer to have the bone in because I find this to be more flavorful and the bone acts like a rack, so it cooks the meat evenly. 2-3 carrots chopped into medium-large chunks. 1 ½ tablespoon flakey sea salt 1 ½ tablespoon freshly ground pepper ½ paprika ½ garlic powder ½ onion powder 3-4 tablespoon of olive oil 1 onion Instructions Step 1: season the prime rib a day beforehand. Mix the salt and pepper and rub it all over the meat. Place in a deep baking dish. Return the beef back to the fridge, uncovered to draw out excess moisture. Step 2: It is important to have your beef at room temperature before cooking it. Since this is a pretty big cut of beef, I would suggest taking it out of the fridge and letting it rest for at least 5 hours. If you don’t do this, the meat will not cook evenly. Step 3: Chop your carrots into medium-large chunks. Not too small that they will burn in the oven. You can also save a few pieces to roast later; along with some veggies. Drizzle some olive oil on and sprinkle some salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well. Place these aside. Step 4: After the meat rested for ~5 hours, preheat the oven at 455F. You can put the chopped carrots into the tray with the beef. Step 5: After the oven is ready, place the beef into the middle rack and bake at 455F for 15 minutes to get a nice golden sear. Step 6: After the 15 minutes, reduce the oven temperature down to 325F to cook for around 2 hours. Cooking at a lower temperature guarantees an evenly cooked roast that is sealed with juiciness. My family and friends prefer their beef medium rare. I highly suggest using a cooking thermometer. Step 7: Once you’re done with baking the meat, you can insert the thermometer. I pull it out when it is around 130F because the meat will continue to cook after you remove it from the oven. Step 8: Please remember to allow the meat to rest for at least 20 minutes. Ingredients for Au jus: Drippings from the roast Onions from the roast 1 cup of red wine Salt and pepper to taste 2-3 tablespoons of flour or cornstarch Instructions: Step 1: Pour in the beef stock over medium-high heat. Add in the red wine, drippings, and onions from the roast and boil for 15 minutes. Strain with strainer. Step 2: Add in flour or cornstarch to thicken. Turn off stove and stir. Ingredients for corn: 3 cups of frozen corn 4 tablespoons of butter (can be unsalted or salted) Instructions: Step 1: Put frozen corn in a pan over medium high heat. Step 2: Add in the butter and stir for 5 minutes. Sprinkle some pepper and salt to taste. Serve with the prime rib. Ingredients for Yorkshire pudding ¾ cup of Flour 100ml Almond milk Olive oil Salt and pepper Instructions: Step 1: preheat oven to 425F. Step 2: Pour a teaspoon of olive oil in each muffin tray compartment and place the tray into the oven to heat up. Step 3: Beat eggs, almond milk, flour, and a tiny pinch of salt and pepper. Beat until well combined. Pour mixture into a jar. Step 4: Remove tray with oven mitts carefully and quickly pour in the mixture into the muffin tray. Step 5: Shove muffin tray back into the oven and bake for 13 – 15 minutes. Should look like this when done. Assemble your dish. Final Product: I also forgot to take a picture of my ign the night before. So I had to use leftovers the next morning to take another picture! Hope this is okay! GM Challenges: GM Ktulu – wine au jus GM Blackstar – decorated with corn, carrots, and Yorkshire pudding. 3 2 6
Freljord Ashe 13 Posted January 11 (edited) Powdered Milk Poring Family Freljord Ashe's recipe - TalonRO 2020 Holiday Cooking Contest Story time: Heroes of Umbala Spoiler There once was a powerful human child named Ezareth, adopted while he was still a baby by a family in Umbala. Born with a unique magic power, he trained both his body and his spirit in the ways of the ancient Soul Linkers, developing a secret ability to turn monsters into smaller versions of themselves, a spell he called Eswoo. Through this powerful spell, the gigantic monsters that attacked the village of Umbala turned weak, effectively allowing the small-sized warriors of Umbala to easily defeat them. He was widely respected by his countrymen. Because of the dangerous proximity between the realms of the living and the dead, thanks to the portal connecting both at the bottom of the Hvergelmir's Fountain, what once was simply fending off Wootan Fighters and Shooters rapidly turned into a war against a undead army of Gibbets, Dullahans and Loli Ruris. Because of the constant attacks of the cursed army, their farms were destroyed, their cattle was killed and hunger plagued the town. Many expeditions were sent to storm Niflheim, the undead territory, but none ever came back. It is believed that the undead realm prevents any living being of entering their territory. Ezareth knew things could not stand that way and decided to venture throughout Midgard to seek help. As Ezareth headed towards Alberta to seek information from the Merchant Guild, our hero heard the legend of an ancient Biochemist known as Shyvana, the Dragonborn. Legend told this heroic Biochemist was a witch who once helped humanity fight great monsters that endangered their lives, such as the almighty Eddga, who threatened the village of Payon; the gigantic Phreeoni, who killed dozens of rogues near Morroc; and even the legendary ice wolf known as Garm, who surrounded the pacific Christmas village of Lutie. Legend told Shyvana had retired years ago and was living in complete isolation at the Mt. Mjolnir, somewhere southwest of Aldebaran and north Geffen. Ezareth knew he needed the help of this legendary Biochemist if he wanted to succeed, so he went in search of this legendary witch. After three days and three nights of a long journey, Ezareth finally arrived at the Mt. Mjolnir fields, where our hero climbed huge mountains to get to the top of a cliff, where there seemed to be someone living inside of an old, small house. Even before he knocked on the door, a dragon-esque, all dressed in red figure emerged, speaking as loud as a thunder: “WHO DARES DISTURB MY REST?” - Calm down! – said Ezareth – I am not an enemy, I come to seek thy help! - And why should I help you, human? – replied Shyvana. - Aren’t you the legendary witch that defeated gigantic monsters and saved many lives all around Midgard? - I was, but I am no longer. I am just an old hag trying to live my last years in solitude. You see, these many years of fighting terrible enemies have cost me a lot. I am not as strong as I once was. I will dedicate my last years exclusively to cooking with the secret ingredients from this mountain, until I finally die. - Please! – begged Ezareth – You are our only hope! Nobody else has the power to defeat the evil Lord of Death! - The Lord of Death? Hmm… If you truly need my help, listen carefully. I’ve dedicated my last years to cooking. Cooking is not just about feeding the starving, you see. It’s about magic. In my recent researches, I discovered a powerful tonic that gives you great ability to enter Niflheim, the realm of the undead. I’m talking about Hwergelmir's Tonic. You should bring my all these ingredients if you truly wish me to help – said Shyvana, handing Ezareth a list of ingredients. - Thy will be done – said Ezareth, before heading towards Hvergelmir's Fountain. It tooks days of hard work for Ezareth to find all the ingredients, the most rare one being the famous Yggdrasil Berry. Once he gathered all those ingredients, he went back to Mt. Mjolnir, requesting an audience with Shyvana. - Very well, you have made it. – said Shyvana. – Now, allow me some time to prepare it the tonic. – she said, as she closed the door and started “cooking”, something that seemed a lot more like witchcraft. (…) - Here it is, the Hvergelmir's Fountain. By drinking this beverage, your heart shall stop and your blood shall freeze, though only for some minutes, time enough for you trick the undead into believing you are one of them. Beware, though: once inside the undead territory, when the effect of the tonic vanishes, all the undead will immediately attack you. You only have some minutes to defeat the Lord of Death. I shall accompany you this one last time – said Shyvana. The heroes headed back to Umbala. An ancient Umbala legend told there was a portal connecting the realm of the living and the dead that could only be accessed throughout an act of courage: a bungee jump straight to the river under the bridge. So they jumped. At the very moment they thought to have reached the ground, both passed out. They later woke up in a strange place, full of darkness, stepping on bones. It was Niflheim, the realm of the dead. - We arrived. – said Shyvana. – Do not expected us to be welcomed. - And so you won’t – declared a rough, scary voice. - Who said that??? – yelled Ezareth. - Didn’t you came looking for me? I am the Lord of Death, the king of the undead and I shall conquer the whole human world. You may have fooled my weaklings with this pathetic tonic, but I shall not be fooled. You are a living being and you don’t belong in this realm… but you will. Now, prepare yourself to die! The fighting started. Ezareth tried to perform his best spells against the Lord of Death, namely Estun and Esma, but he was completely immune to it. All he could do is use Estin against the evil lord to push him back a little, which was not a problem for the Lord of Death, though, as he could easily brandish his spear from a long distance and his army of undead could easily reach his enemies. - We are not going to make it, he is too strong! – yelled Ezareth to Shyvana. - Don’t you have any spell that can slow him down? – screamed Shyvana, as she ran away from the army of the undead following the Lord of Death. - Ezareth channeled his inner strength into one single spell: ESWOO! - This should slow him! Now, let’s light those undead on fire! DEMONSTRATION! Shyvana burnt all the undead with her Molotov Cocktails, while also breaking the Lord of Death’s War Axe, his almighty spear. She then summoned a bunch of carnivore plants, namely Parasites, Geographers and Mandragoras, eating the bones and dead flesh of the rest of the undead – BIO CANNIBALIZE! - FOOLS! – Screamed the Lord of Death. – Do you think these stupid tricks can stop me? All I need is my armor and magic! GRAND CROSS OF DARKNESS! – Screamed the evil lord, as he killed all of the plants with one single spell. - We are not even scratching him! – shouted Ezareth. - I shall deal with it: ACID TERROR! – screamed Shyvana, as she threw a bunch of acid bottles aimed to the Lord of Death’s shield and armor. - AAAAAGH, MY ARMOR!! – Screamed the evil lord as his armor and shield started to corrode in front of his eyes. – This foolish errand has gone too far. I don’t need an army, my armor or any weapon to kill you both, my magic is more than enough! HELL’S JUDGEMENT! – Announced the Lord of Death, as he started channeling all his energy into his one final magic. - We are doomed! This is his ultimate technique, no one has ever seen this spell and survived to tell about it! – screeched Shyvana. - A powerful magic you say? This will be his demise then: KAITE! – shout Ezareth, as he protected both with a magic coat capable of reflecting all enemy magic back to the caster three times stronger. – DIE, EVIL LORD! - NOOOoooooo… - howled the Lord of Death, as his immortal soul and bones slowly started to fade away with the power of his own magic. (…) Both came back to Umbala, now lauded as heroes. As a token of appreciation for saving the village of Umbala, an ancient shaman from Umbala rewarded them with a powerful magic: with the spiritual power of Ezareth, combined with the cooking witchcraft of Shyvana, they were taught a new skill: spiritual cooking, a powerful magic that allowed our heroes to craft recipes with the soul of their defeated enemies. Their first plate? A recipe they named “Powdered Milk Poring Family”, an extremely sweet plate made with the souls of Porings, Poporings, Drops, Magmarings and a Mastering! Deliciously heroic! The plate/recipe: Powdered Milk Poring Family Ingredients: Spoiler - Powdered milk, 500g - Sugar, 500g - Sweetened condensed milk, 600g (it may vary) - Food coloring (as many colors as you want) - Icing pen (as many colors as you want) How to make it: Spoiler 1) Mix all the powdered milk, the sugar and the sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl, until they look kind of like this (notice that it CAN’T be so wet that you can’t shape it into little balls; don’t use water or milk, only sweetened condensed milk, okay?): 2) Once you mixed all the ingredients and got the necessary texture (enough to shape it into whatever you want), separate the mixed ingredients into smaller portions, in as many bowls as you want different colors and add the food coloring of your choice (I used pink, green, orange and black): 3) Mix the food coloring with the mixed ingredients (but don’t assemble all of the colors together!). To make things easier, you can always wrap them in the format of balls, but make sure the food coloring is all around the portion, otherwise it will not color the whole recipe: 4) Once you have the colored balls of candy, you can separate them into smaller balls, making porings, poporings, drops, marins, magmarings, masterings, ghostring… feel completely free! All you need for drawing their little faces (eyes and mouth) is an icing pen (word of advise: please, PLEASE don’t use normal pen – they are toxic!). Here’s what I did: Voilà! Your extra sweetie candy is ready to be served. Hope you enjoy this delicious delicatessen, it’s inspired by a typical Brazilian candy, but with a little TalonRO/RO twist from myself ^^ Here are the GM Challenges I picked: GM Zelda Challenge: there is SO MUCH sugar in this recipe, I swear. GM Spica Challenge: a lot of (sweetened condensed) milk too! GM Blackstar Challenge: both the food coloring and the icing pen are merely used as decorative presentation, so that must count! My IGN is Freljord Ashe, but you can also find me at Wrath of Andraste and Shyvana the Dragonborn. Thanks a lot, I hope you all appreciate the effort! vievie 21 Posted January 14 (edited) Heart Shaped Poring Cookies The story behind the Heart Shaped Poring Cookies Spoiler The start of our friendship was like any fairytale written, filled with the innocence of our youth. We met on a sunny day, south of Prontera city. The three of us were just mere novice back then. Without any divine gears, we would be wearing our silly egg shell hat poking porings. Feeling fulfilled with our daily grinds, we would head back to the city to sell our daily loots to the merchant. Dividing to one another our shares of the day. We had sworn to have each other’s back while constantly challenging ourselves to even more difficult monster. “The Three Musketeers” is what we called ourselves, laughing at the cliche of our party name. Each day as the sun rises, we would meet by the fountain, middle of Prontera city, ready for what is to come that day. Those were the simpler days and we were inseparable. Years passed, we had all took up the jobs we had dreamed of while we were a novice. Ava had become a High Priest, supporting us as we fight. Alec, my partner in crime, had chosen the route of an Assassin Cross, fearless of what is to come. While I fulfilled my novice dream of becoming a Champion. One day, as we were relaxing by the tavern in the city. A strange man from Arunafeltz was telling the tavern keeper his tales as a traveller. He sworn to have seen a mysterious glow in the sea during his travels. He said, legend has it that there is a mysterious Nameless Island, filled with treasures guarded by the Undead. But those who went never return. Curiosity bested us, we would never turn down an opportunity to challenge ourselves. Ava, Alec and I spread out to different cities to gain knowledge about this mysterious island. Words had spread in the city, that The Three Musketeers are looking for the Nameless Island. Weeks has passed and we still do not have any information on how we could get there. We were on the verge of giving up. Till this one day a rugged looking man, approached us in the tavern. “ What you seek is south of Veins. A boat will take you there, be prepared of what is to come. “ He uttered this two sentences and vanished before we could asked him more. We geared up, making our way to the city of Veins. We found a dock hidden in cove, south of the city of Veins. There was a man by the boat. He looked at us and smiled “ Ahh.. The Three Musketeers, I have been waiting for you. I’m Larjes. Hop on. “ We exchange some small talks with him during our journey on the sea. But he was a man of few words. Hours passed, we were in the sea middle of nowhere with nothing ahead of us but fogs clouding our views. Suddenly, Alec shouted “ I see land ahead of us !! “ Could this be? The infamous Nameless Island. Larjes docked his boat and told us that he would wait for our return. If we do not return before sunset he will leave and come by the same time next day. We left the boat with excitement filled in our heads. Walking into the abandoned monastery, we were greeted by hordes of Zombies. We fought our way through and manage to find a staircase that would transcend us to another floor. As we walk, we would hear a deep growl growing louder. Ava gasped and shivers as she saw what it seems to be a man with torn up clothing, skin pale as snow appeared right infront of us. He summoned a flock of Banshees right at us. The battle was long and hard. But we manage to prevail. On his last breath before he perished, he cast a curse on Ava. Then, trunks of treasures appeared right infront of our eyes. As we were looting the treasures, Ava suddenly collapses and her skin turned red. “ AVA!!? Alec !! She is hurt ! “ I shouted. Alec was busy rummaging through the treasures. That he couldn’t hear me. I walked towards Alec and gave him a nudge on his shoulder. “ Leave them, Alec ! We got to leave now !! “ “ But.. the treasures we fought so hard for.. No no no.. I AM NOT GONNA LEAVE ALL THESE BEHIND “ He panicked. I ignored him with disdain and carried Ava running through the hordes of zombies. Praying Larjes is waiting by the dock. Luck was on our side, Larjes was still waiting by the dock. He asked of Alec, but I told him to leave without him. He nodded and we hurried back to the city, to ask help from the bishops in Prontera Church. It was a rare ancient curse that she had been put on. They could only suppress it for the moment, but the bishops had no clue on how to break the curse. Days passed as her situation grew even more dire. I bury my head in books for days in Prontera library looking for a cure. I caught sight of Alec as he enters the library with bags of zenies. I stared at him right in the eyes, and he halt his steps and froze right at the entryway. “ She is dying. You think I would care about this right now ?!! “ Alec drifted his eyes off mine and left without saying a word. A week had passed, I have only been drowning in alcohol day by day. Annoyed by my own existence, I could barely even looked at myself. The bishop came by the tavern and found me reek of alcohol and sorrows. He put his hand on my shoulders and said “ My dear child, I am here to bring good news, Ava has awaken, rid of the curse she was put on. “ She appeared right behind him, her smiles fade away as she saw me. I could see her trying to hide her tears by looking away. She utters in a broken voice “ Erik, please come by my place tonight. I will prepare dinner. Its been awhile since we had a meal together. “ I could hear the disappointment in her voice. I cleaned myself up and arrived at her house in time for dinner. She greeted me at the doorway then as I entered I saw Alec sitting by the dinner table. “ Have a seat, Erik. It is Christmas tomorrow and we always have dinner together the night before Christmas. “ She said cheerfully. The silence between me and Alec grew uncomfortable. But it would have hurt me more to see Ava disappointed if we were to start a fight in front of her. We ate our meal in silence accompanied by the warmth of the fireplace. “ I am sorry, Ava. I can't take this anymore. The silence is killing me. “ Alec said as he dropped his tableware on the plate and stood up. “ Alec. Sit down.. Please let me explain to him. “ Ava replied calmly. “ I have heard from the Bishops about what had happened when I was unconscious. Thankfully for Alec, I could sit here today and have dinner with- “ “ THANKFULLY FOR ALEC ? Do you know what he did? “ I yelled. “ Erik, please let me finish. I know what had happened. Larjes went back to the Nameless Island to look for him. He found Alec hiding inside the abandoned house outside of the monastery. I am glad he is unharmed. He had told me what he did and apologise. Alec was disappointed with himself that he had not slept for days trying to look for a cure in different cities. Thankfully he found an old sage in Yuno who knew how to break the curse. “ She stood up and walked into her kitchen. She brought out a plate of Heart-Shaped Poring Cookies and placed it infront of us. “ Erik.. Alec.. do you remember how we met ? “ We looked away in embarrassment, but the memories of the times we had together replays in my head. Ava continues “ We all make mistakes. It is what makes us human after all. What matters is we admit our wrongs and we change for the better. “ “ Were we not the inseparable Three Musketeers who had sworn to have each other’s back? It breaks my heart to see both of you fighting. “ She exclaims. I wiped away my tears and stood up. I walked towards Alec and put my hands on his shoulder then pulled him in and gave him a hug. He tries to speak but i stopped him “ We are family and you are my brother for life. Family do not hold grudges against each other. I am sorry. “ Word count : 1489 The Recipe Spoiler RECIPE FOR SUGAR COOKIES 225g Soften Unsalted Butter 90g Sugar 390g All Purpose Flour 1/4tsp Vanilla Bean Powder ( you can also opt for Vanilla Essence / Vanilla Bean Pod ) Preheat your oven to 170 degree celcius In a large mixing bowl, add in 225g of soften butter and 90g sugar. NOTE: Butter should be left out for atleast half an hour Whisk the butter and sugar till fluffy. It should turn a light yellow color. NOTE: If you are using vanilla essence, mix it in before adding the flour. Sieve in 390g of all purpose flour and add in 1/4tsp of vanilla bean powder Fold in the flour into the butter, it should mimic the texture of a wet sand. Lay out a parchment paper on your worktable and place the dough in the middle. Lightly knead to combine the cookie dough. Place another parchment paper on the top. NOTE: This will allow you to easily roll out the dough without it sticking to the rolling pin. Now lets cut out the cookie! Bake at 170 degree celcius for around 12-15min depending on the thickness of your cookie. When your cookie turns golden brown is time to take them out. Leave cookie to cool on a cooling rack before icing it . RECIPE FOR ROYAL ICING 490g Icing Sugar 2 Large Egg Whites Alcohol of your choice or Water (as needed) Food Coloring of your choice Add in 490g of icing sugar and slowly add in 2 large egg whites at the lowest speed setting of your mixer. Gradually increase your speed and mix it till it reach a meringue texture as shown below Note: Took around 5 mins for me with highest speed setting on my stand mixer Add in food coloring of your choice. Note: If you’re using liquid food coloring it will slightly dilute the mix. This step is preferred to be done before you dilute with alcohol or water. ** Cover royal icing with plastic wrap when not in used. It will dry the royal icing out if leave out in open ** Now, if you want to use your icing just for detailing. You can skip this part ** For icing that you use for larger areas ( as they call in baking term – flooding ) I use vodka here. You can also use water to dilute the royal icing. Note: You can opt for any liquor of your liking. I heard rum is a good choice for this. You are looking for a texture that your icing could easily drop down. But not overly runny. Place you icing in a piping bag. Note: If you do not have one.. I used ziplock bag as substitute for this. HOW TO DRAW YOUR VERY OWN PORINGS Pipe in your royal icing and smooth out the top with a toothpick. Design 1 Start with a basic white base Pipe the shape of poring Add the eyes Note: I use toothpick for tiny details of the eyes and mouth Then add in the blush Design 2 Randomly placing the mini Drops Then, drawing in the details with a toothpick Leave your royal icing to harden for a few hour before consuming! Et Voila! Your very own Heart-Shaped Poring Cookies !! ShanHarish 7 Posted January 17 (edited) Alice’s Whisper of Death Cupcakes Story Time Spoiler It’s been years since Alice has been allowed to see her family, and every year the holidays get harder to get through. She spends hours looking out the windows of Glast Heim, watching the snow hit the ground and wondering when she will get to leave. Ever since her original owners left the castle, things took a dark turn as she went from a maid to a slave. The Abysmal Knight of Glast Heim took ownership of Alice and now he roams the castle to ensure she never leaves the premises. One night, the knight walked into the library to find Alice with her head on the desk, fast asleep from reading her book. Abysmal Knight: “Alice?” “…..ALICE!!!” Alice: “Oh no…I’m so sorry! It was an accident; the sound of the storms makes me sleepy. I-…never mind.. what can I do for you?” Abysmal Knight: “Sleep is scheduled from 10pm to 4am. You know this, Alice. You also know that I like to have my dinner prepared by 6pm, and it’s 6:04. So why am I staring at an empty plate, Alice?” Alice: “Sir it was an accident… it won’t happen again I swear.” Abysmal Knight: “A week in the chamber for you. Disgusting. Despicable. I ask for simple things, Alice. Why do you make these simple things so difficult… *sighs* Before you go, I want my dinner made AND dessert. Make yourself useful, pitiful girl.” Alice didn’t say a word as she was already trying to fight off showing tears. As she dragged herself to the kitchen, she couldn’t help but think what her life would be like if she were ownerless. She thought: “Wow…imagine…no one to serve. No one to pick up after, no one to cook for. Everything I do is for someone else-- I forgot what it’s like to live for myself. I forgot what happiness is… Is this my life? Is my life defined as someone else’s maid…servant…slave?” With dinner in the oven, Alice got a head start on dessert and realized there was no vanilla. She went into the pantry and reached into the spice cupboard only to find empty containers and a weird glowing red bottle that sparked her interest. She brought the bottle into the kitchen to better see it and realized it was in the shape of a skull. She turned the bottle over to read “VIOLAA’S DEADLY POISON: Use sparingly” Alice: “What is this?? I don’t remember buying this..” She paused and realized what she had in her hands. Alice: “Violaa..that’s the Assassin Cross who rolled through here not too long ago... this is hers! She poisons everyone who crosses her, with no remorse. If she can do it, it’s ok if I do it, right..? Oh man, I can’t remember how she used this thing…” Alice pulled off the lid and the bottle revealed a horrible smell; the smell of death. She realized that with a stench that harsh it would be hard to hide, so she started with one drop of the poison added to the cake mix. A burst of smoke erupted from the cake batter and formed the shape of a skull. Alice: “This has to be it. If I add any more, he’s going to know I’m trying to kill him..” Everything was ready. The knight ate his dinner and was now waiting for dessert. With a deep breath, Alice walked into the dining room holding a plate of the knight’s favorite sweet treat: a strawberry shortcake. Abysmal Knight: “Well, isn’t this something? Alice does something right. Now shoo, I want to enjoy this without a miserable wench watching me. GO ON NOW, BYE-BYE.” Alice smiled. “Yes, bye-bye now.” Strawberry Shortcakes (cupcake) Spoiler TIP: This cake batter takes a few tries to get the consistency right (sometimes it gets to be like cornbread) I suggest using cake-mix for an easier route. Ingredients: 3 cups white flour 21/2 cups sugar 1/2 tsp salt 3 tsp baking powder 2 cups butter 6 eggs 1/2 milk 2 tsp vanilla (poison hehe) strawberries --------------- Icing-------------- 8 oz cream cheese (Philadelphia is superior) 1/2 cup sugar 2 cups heavy cream black icing Preheat oven to 350F degrees & spray cooking spray into cupcake tin or lay out cupcake liners. In one bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. In another bowl, beat the butter & add eggs, one at a time, until blended well. Add milk and vanilla to the egg/butter mix & beat well. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the egg/butter mix & beat until smooth. (This should be THICCCC) Fill the cupcake tin about 1/2 way per cake. Bake for 19-22 minutes or use the toothpick test. While these bake, start dicing the strawberries~ Once the cupcakes are ready to come out of the oven, they need to be COMPLETELY cooled in order to continue. So while waiting for the cakes to cool, the icing can be made. A huge tip: use a metal bowl, and FREEZE it for 10 min before starting the icing. Whisk together the cream cheese and sugar until well blended. Add 1/2 cup of heavy cream at a time to the cream cheese mixture and whisk till all blended. Then your 20 year old mixer is going to break and then you have to whisk by hand till it burns and then your arm goes numb (or not............). Whisk until you can make tough peaks, this is supposed to be a WHIPPED icing~ We are ready to decorate! There are 2 ways we can make these ghosts, flat or dome. Either way, start by cutting off the top of the COMPLETELY COOLED CUPCAKE, RIGHT??!?! (just making sure.....) Scrape out the middle portion using a spoon (I used a knife because i'm edgy) and fill it up with strawberries. For flat-top Whispers: these are ready for icing. The leftover cupcake that we cut out can either be eaten OR you can save it for home-made cakecops (just requires icing, white chocolate, & sticks). (And now that i'm thinking about it, cakepop Whispers would have been so cute omg but I ate all the cake already....) For "3D" or dome-shaped Whispers, simply add the top you just cut off. Personally, I think the "3D" ones are cuter, but for the sake of this challenge, I decided to do flat tops since the pictures turned out better and way easier to see. But here is what dome-boi Whisper looks like: BONK Whisper guts: Okay back to flat tops: Frost with the cream-cheese icing. Recommended to put it in the fridge for about 10-15 min before adding the black icing. (The black icing would slide and slightly bleed while I worked on cupcakes that weren't cold.) Decorate the Whispers~ I started out by putting 3 dots of black icing onto the cupcake and lightly swirled the eyes and mouth with a toothpick. The derpier, the better. I hope you guys try this recipe; although strawberry shortcake is a great summer treat, I have been making it for Thanksgiving/Christmas every year for the past 6 years; this is my holiday tradition (without Whispy, unfortunately). ENJOY~ ❤️ I dropped the paper on right side Whisper & ruined his nose right before this pic :/ rip. Edited January 17 by ShanHarish 3 1 2
